Painter and decorator He created decorations for dilettantes of Strakonice, painted the curtain of the Sokol house in Strakonice. In Prague, he worked on decorations for the National Theatre or the Vinohrady operetta. He resided at his brother's place in Brazil. He spent the last years of his life in the Siebert Institute in Strakonice. During this time, he painted numerous paintings, mostly Strakonice-themed oil paintings.
Physician, correspondent member of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, J. E. Purkyně medal awardee Born in Pula, Istria, where his father served in the navy. In 1918, his family returned to Czechoslovakia and lived in Prague and Bratislava. He studied at the Faculty of Medicine at Komenský University in Bratislava. Afterwards, he went on to work as a scientist. He published 120 scientific medical publications. He moved from Slovakia to Prague to join the 1st intern clinic of prof. Dr. Hynek.
Painter and graphic artist Painted mostly scenery, still-life pieces, portraits and coloured fairy-tale drawings. He would also create etchings and wood carvings. He illustrated books of Kamila Neumannová.
Physician, resistance member He moved to Strakonice in 1939, becoming the head physician of the intern ward of the hospital. He was summoned by the Central Committee of Domestic Resistance (ÚVOD) to found a resistance group in Strakonice. He went on to create "Karel Strakonice", a resistance group that would distribute food and clothes in the hospital, as well as providing medical aid. In 1942, Hradecký was arrested (betrayed by one of his coworkers in the hospital) and executed a year later in Berlin.
Music teacher He came to Strakonice in 1969, becoming the schoolmaster and violin teacher at LŠU (the People's School of Arts). He introduced bagpiping in the school. For his pupils, he created the textbooks School of Bagpiping and Bagpipe Études. He was active in the musical and dancing collective of Prácheň. He founded a bagpipe music group for children and later participated in the origin of bagpiping in Strakonice. In 2015, he was posthumously awarded honorary citizenship of the town of Strakonice.
Athlete – runner, introduced to the Sports Hall of Fame of the region of Strakonicko Medium and long tracks were his domain. Several times champion of the republic. Attended the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. In the past, he has been awarded the titles of Master of Sport and Meritorious Master of Sport. Poet, writer, theatre critic After his consecration, he was active in the John of Nepomuk Church in Pilsen. In 1949, he was arrested and imprisoned until 1952. In 1963, he abandoned the occupation of priest and went on to activity in cultural management establishments under the Ministry of Culture, later as an editor and dramaturgist. He had written poems, poem collections, novels, theatre plays, radio dramas and rhymes for folding picture books. He had used the pseudonyms of Josef Otava and Jaroslav Jánský.
Opera singer, baritone Attended AMU, soloist of the National Theatre Opera in Prague since 1958. Was especially exceptional at performing material by Smetana. Teacher at the Prague Conservatory and HAMU. He excelled mostly at heroic, majestic and morally strong characters. He would also engage himself in concert activity and translating songs. Attained numerous international awards.
Prose writer, representative of the rustic novel genre, professor of German and French languages. He would write in German in his literary beginnings, but most of his work was in Czech. He wrote features and short essays. He would depict distinct denizens of Šumava, their customs and traditions, as well as nature. His most notable works include novels Ze světa Lesních Samot, V Ráji Šumavském and Mlhy na Blatech. His short stories are contained in the collections V Srdci Šumavských Hvozdů and Pošumavské Rapsodie.
Man of letters, scholar Active as the regional director and head councilman of the New Town of Prague. His family adopted the suffix of "z Prachové" (of Prachová) in 1582 with his father being elected to the nobleman status. He was voted one of the 30 directors in the temporary government by the regional orders after the vice-regents were thrown out of the windows of their office during the Prague Defenestration in 1618. However, he was beheaded at the Old Town Square on 21 June 1621 along with other Czech lords.
Swimmer, introduced to the Sports Hall of Fame of the region of Strakonicko Twenty-four-times Czechoslovak champion in swimming, awarded the title of Master of Sport in 1980. From 1987, he would represent Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic at the World Championship and the Masters European Championship. Several times champion of Europe.
Trainer Since his arrival to Strakonice in 1947, he would train teenagers in light athletics. After a short skiing career, he went on to train skiers of Strakonice. He founded the ski running club ČZ Strakonice. At the peak of his training career, he led the representational junior female team. His students included Miloš Bečvář and Josef Jánský.

Son of the academic painter Karel Kupka Sr. His paintings would mostly depict Strakonice and southern Bohemia. He would start out making portraits, later moving on to landscapes or still life. Was dubbed the painter from Otava. He illustrated books for children.
Theatre and cabaret actress Great reciter and chanson singer. Along with her husband, she performed on various stages and in cabarets in Prague and Brno, as well as abroad. After returning to Prague in 1920, her husband, Longen, founded the cabaret Revoluční Scéna. Here, Xena would perform in probably her best known role in the dramatization of the Egon Erwin Kisch play The Ascension of Tonka Šibenice.
Historian, archeologist, philosopher. Entered the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Moravia. In 1848, he would move to Prague, studying medicine and later on at the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University. As a regional court official in Prague, he saved 589 folios of court books (dated 1479 – 1783) from destruction. In 1866, he returned to Strakonice and engaged himself in archeology. His revelations would form the basis of the collections of the museum in Písek.
Bagpiper, bagpipe maker Represented one of the best known bagpiper families that has contributed to the development of the bagpiping tradition in Strakonice. In around 1910, he would create his first bagpipe with the assistance of local craftsmen. In 1921 – 1928, he had the bagpiping license.
A writer who had been teaching in Soběslav and Strakonice during the protectorate era. Real name: Jiří Puchwein. In his prose, he remembers the time he spent in southern Bohemia. He wrote screenplays for Sequens films (The Death of Black King).
