Holy Trinity Chapel

The Holy Trinity Chapel was most likely built in the first half of the 19th century as well. It is a monumental pillared structure with richly shaped wings. A niche covered by a door can be found in the lower part, hiding a picture.

John of Nepomuk Chapel in Renner Gardens

Some witnesses have claimed that the chapel was moved. St. John Chapel was built here in 1935 as an exact replica of an older structure that used to stand in nearby Na Stráži Street. Legend has it that the chapel was built to house the clay statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The statue was left exposed on the street and one day its head was broken off by a cow. This compelled the locals to build a shelter for the statue. During St. John celebrations, religious services, processions and even holy masses were held here every year.

Podsrp Cemetery

The cemetery is located next to the road to České Budějovice. It is enclosed by a stone wall. The entrance with Maltese cross bears the inscription:"What you are now we used to be; what we are now you will be." A large stone cross was erected in the middle of the cemetery in the 19th century. A small mortuary was built after 1837 on the opposite side.

St. Wenceslas Cemetery

The cemetery is located near the eponymous Church of St. Wenceslas, on the place of an abondoned settlement called Lom. It was established in the 13th/14th century, when Bavor III founded the Church of St. Wenceslas with presbytery in the then village. In later become the only cemetery in Strakonice. Its ancient origin can be seen in the 16th century tombstones placed in the Church's floor. The grounds have always been consecrated. First it spread close to the church, but later it was extended to its present size.

Jewish Cemetery

The ancient Jewish cemetery is located to the west of Strakonice by the road to Pracejovice. Since the old Jewish synagogue was demolished (the oldest place of worship burnt down in 1741, the old synagogue collapsed in 1858, the new synagogue was demolished in 1956), the Jewish cemetery is one of the few monuments to remind us of the community that has left an indelible trace on the town's history, particularly in the local textile industry.

Former Siebert Institute with St. Martin Chapel

Viktor Siebert made his last will in a military camp near Rab on 20 June 1685, donating 10,000 guldens to a shelter for impoverished Strakonice burghers. His father, Vincenc Karel Siebert, mayor of the town, purchased a cottage by Řepicka Gate, and had a hospital built on the spot. A home for the elderly was officially opened in the hospital in 1948, and later expanded with another building (1956). The home was recently reconstructed and modernized. The Chapel of St. Martin was built in 1713 as part of the Siebert Hospital.

Calvary

The hill named Calvary is located south-west of the castle. An ancient Gothic Feast of the Cross Chapel used to stand on the top.A cemetery surrounded the chapel, where according to local legend Svanda the Bagpiper is supposed to rest. The chapel was abandoned in 1781 during the reign of  Joseph II and was demolished some years later. Parts of its interior have found refuge in nearby chapels and churches.

Church of Our Lady of Sorrows

The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows from the 18th century, which has become a popular place of pilgrimage, is located in the south-eastern suburb of Podsrp. The three-wing cloister on the western side of the church and the one-storey presbytery building with volute are noteworthy.

Church of St. Wenceslas

Originally Gothic, later remodelled in Baroque style, the cemetery Church of St. Wenceslas with presbytery was founded in the ancient village of Lom between the 13th and the 14th centuries by Bavor III. At the same time a cemetery was opened here, the only one in Strakonice. The cemetery with its solid links to the Christian cult was also known as the Holy Field. The originally small space had to be gradually expanded up to its present size, for instance after the famine in the 18th century.

The church of St Margaret

In 1583 the Strakonice citizens had a large church built on a former island on bases of an older gothic church from the beginning of the 13thcentury that enabled a possibility to commune according to utraquistic rules. A Flemish architect V. Vogarelli was deputed with the building of the church. The newly made renaissance building, bearing gothic marks, with halls is arched with a net star vault. The church furnishing is pseudo-gothic. During reconstruction of the roof in 2000 documents dated 1873 were discovered in the copula.

The church of St Prokop

Adorners of the church architecture can see a former romanesque church of St Prokop with a baroque reconstruction and rococo features right in the area of the castle. Its baroque interior originated mostly in the years 1720–1730. The church was primarily sacrificed to the St Vojtěch. In the course of building renovations mural paintings from 1340 were discovered. Services of the Roman Catholic church take place here on Sundays. It is possible to peek in the church during the tour of the Capitular Hall and Cloister that you can enter from the second castle court.
