Physician, regional historian Graduated from the local comprehensive school, followed by the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University. However, he had to interrupt his studies in 1939 due to the university being shut down by the Germans. He returned to Strakonice, working as a lab technician and attendant. After the war, he would go on with his medicine studies and proceeded to work as an internist of the Regional National Insurance Company emergency services. In 1951–60, he was a director of the Regional Institute of National Health, serving as the head of the Clinical Biochemistry Department. Apart from medicine, his interests would also include mycology and history. He would contribute to the magazine Česká Mykologie (Czech Mycology) and other specialized magazines. He was also avidly interested in history. For the 600th anniversary of the attainment of municipal rights for Strakonice, he published a book called Strakonice – Osudy Jihočeského Města a Jeho Okolí. In 1990, he was awarded honorary citizenship of the town of Strakonice. Shortly before his death, he finished his last book Mých Devadesát Let aneb Pamatuji Dva Císaře a Deset Prezidentů.
