Carpenter, patriot He tried to write poems in Czech. He was an avid reader, buying almost anything that was published at the time. His library was utilized by his friends, acquaintances and students, with whom he would also organize literary evenings and theatre performances. He was a friend of F. L. Čelakovský. Following the example of the patriots of that time, both of them would add another name to their full name – Vlastislav and Ladislav. In Strakonice, important men of the era would visit Plánek – Josef Jungmann, Jan Evangelista Purkyně and Jakub Malý. Towards the end of his life, he went on to put together the history of Strakonice.
