Writer At the age of fifteen, he was deported to Terezín and then transported to Auschwitz. In 1945, he was forced to participate in a death march, which he ended up surviving. In 1965, he emigrated to Washington, where he worked as a translator and interpreter. In 2006, he was awarded the memorial medal "Za vlast a za svobodu" ("For the Country and Freedom") at the Czech freedom fighters' association meeting. He wrote the auto-biographic novel series Utkáno z Lana Katova.
