Former Siebert Institute with St. Martin Chapel

Viktor Siebert made his last will in a military camp near Rab on 20 June 1685, donating 10,000 guldens to a shelter for impoverished Strakonice burghers. His father, Vincenc Karel Siebert, mayor of the town, purchased a cottage by Řepicka Gate, and had a hospital built on the spot. A home for the elderly was officially opened in the hospital in 1948, and later expanded with another building (1956). The home was recently reconstructed and modernized. The Chapel of St. Martin was built in 1713 as part of the Siebert Hospital. The small church has a rather austere exterior and a simple layout without stone tower. Only the tiny steeple is reminiscent of Capuchin churches. The interior is closed to the public for most of the year.
